The Red Room and Intercultural Music Production present a collaboration of Middle Eastern and South Asian musical traditions featuring EMME (East Meets Middle East) – a cross-continental project between Ronnie Malley (oud) and George Lawler (perc) from Chicago and Abhisek Lahiri (sarod) and Subrata Bhattacharya (tabla) from Calcutta, India. Also appearing, Chicago's own Bengali folk band, Ochin Pakhi, and other special guests. The event is modeled after a mehfil, a traditional gathering of music, conversation, and community.
